002 Chair 01 |
Furniture Design
Completed | 2026
Chair 01 explores the relationship between industrial structure and functional furniture. The design focuses on exposing its construction; chromed steel tubes, hardware, and fasteners; so that the structure itself becomes the primary visual element. Using ¾” chromed stainless steel tubing, the intersecting frame establishes a clear system of measurement and proportion that informs the chair’s overall composition.
Influenced by utilitarian and engineered aesthetics, the project aimed to create a streamlined piece that relies on material honesty and precise detailing rather than ornamentation. The intersections of the frame are intentionally emphasized, allowing the geometry and connections to define the form.
Chair 01 combines function with a restrained sculptural presence through its use of industrial materials and exposed framework. The steel tube structure serves both as support and as a visual reference to minimalist and engineering-based design principles. The seat and backrest are cast in resin to maintain transparency and preserve visibility of the underlying structure. The backrest incorporates a pivot mechanism, enabling adjustable recline while remaining consistent with the chair’s structural language.
